Well, we can’t say we didn’t see this coming

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Twitter over the years, but when the new management took over, it was increasingly obvious that it was heading in the wrong direction. For weeks now, I’ve been prevented from seeing even my own tweets after about five. The functionality of posting photos has been broken. And last week I casually opened the app while sitting at the airport and found myself staring at graphic pornography.

But today I have been blocked from posting at all. No cute photo of Auggie on the bed in front of me, and no retweeting to help save dogs in danger. There were two in particular I wanted to help.

I have no idea how long this will last. I’m sure it’s not personal. It’s just reality, and we deal with it. Maybe it’s just time to cut the cord. If you’re on Twitter, please pass the word. And if you’d like to stay in touch, you can sign up to receive an email whenever I post on the main page of this site.

I am looking at this as a message from the universe to do more writing. Not that Elon Musk is the universe, but I’m sure he thinks he is.

(My apologies for the technical glitches here. I’m out of practice.)

He’s not relaxed at all.
My spoiled darlings.

  1. So sorry this happened to you. Your account is an asset to every audience any platform where it appears.
    See you on Instagram.

  2. This is so frustrating. It seems like Elon is determined to destroy Twitter (I refuse to call it “X”) even after spending all those billions of dollars. I’m glad we can all at least stay in touch with you here. Love the pics of your doggos and updates on your writing.

  4. That’s pretty horrid, but we all knew he’d destroy Twitter. He’s gonna make it a MAGA tool for the 2024 election. I’m still on it, but probably not much longer. I joined Threads, I think it’s boring, but may be the only avenue before too long.

  5. This news makes me very sad. I’m still using the app formerly known as Twitter despite its terrible, progressive and continued degradation by Mr. Musk. I’ve loved your Doggy Posts – all of them – ever since I discovered you. Maybe it’s a glitch? Please stay.

  6. I’m so sorry. I am very upset with the direction Twitter is going. I am on several other platforms to follow my favorites but it’s not quite the same.

  7. This breaks my heart. Your posts bring hope and joy. The gorgeous Auggie and Eli photos and lively updates warm my heart. Your landscape and wildlife photos are beautiful. I joined Twitter (X?) primarily to learn from animal and nature lovers and found your posts. Your big heart and talent deserves much better.

  10. I am so sorry as I loved seeing your posts of Auggie and of nature. Elon has ruined Twitter now renamed X. I haven’t seen porn….yet. I miss you and your tweets. I subscribed to Threafs. Please keep us informed.

  11. It’s been very sketchy for several months. Many people have been locked out – not sure what’s going on.

  12. I keep hoping Twitter will straighten up –
I’m staying with Twitter until it dies, but we will find you wherever you go (not in a creepy way!!).
Yes, your boys bring us so much joy…. a day is not complete without seeing them! Take care & hopefully, tomorrow you’ll magically be able to post.

  13. I am so sorry on so many fronts about what has happened at Twitter. It was never perfect but its fall from grace has been absolute and similarly horrific. That a 12 year old man child could destroy the global speech forum in such a short time is beyond belief. I’ve tried most of the replacement websites and so far, at least, Bluesky seems most like Twitter without the baggage but only a handful of users.

I am especially sad to learn what has happened to your account. Every morning, I looked forward to logging onto Twitter and seeing the exploits of my two favorite German Shepherds (and Pete too of course). I so miss their presence, although I always enjoy seeing Pete’s picture on the mantle when Charlie does a segment on MSNBC. I can’t imagine the kind of abuse Charlie takes for being so forthright about what’s happening in our country and I look forward to his appearance on TV and the podcast of the Bulkwerk that I listen to on occasion.

I hope today’s indictments and hopefully convictions of the criminal who occupied our Whitehouse will finally turn our country back but there may be no putting the genie back in the bottle.

Just know that I do appreciate your posts and all that you do support saving German Shepherds and of course my two favorite dogs, Auggie and Eli. I plan on buying My Dog Pete as a Christmas present to myself. It will be an honor to read such a heartwarming story.

Thank you so much for sharing so much of your life. Please stay safe.

  15. I was busy this morning and when I thought of Twitter, realized I had not seen your posts again. So unsure what to do about this mess. Older folks like myself hate change. This is when I most empathize with my autistic son, experience frustration firsthand. I will find you I hope-see your hubby on Instagram some, but you said you did not like it because part of Facebook!

  16. Hey/ Yes X is very bad. I am not on there much. I’ve noted that you are posting much either. I purchased My Dog Pete and it was great. I’m going to give it to my friend who will put it in her library in her 2nd grade classroom. Since we are in Florida, she is going to have to list it for their approval. I’ll let you know if anything out of the ordinary happens. I don’t think there could be a problem.
I have joined Threads and note Charlie is over there. I do pull up Twitter, excuse me X, as I like all my Ukraine friends I have made. Well, it is very hot here in Gainesvill, Fla. Hope all will be well with you. Marilyn Dye

  17. I will stay on twitter or X as he calls it as long as I can tolerate his insanity. Love seeing your boys as well as the Corgis and cats I follow. Enjoy your lovely midwestern yard. Reminds me of ours growing up in Indiana. I do follow liberal politics and “normal”Republicans as well.Hopefully things will improve. Not thrilled with Threads or the other options.                  Mary Ann Kelly

  20. I left Twitter almost a year ago and I really miss your posts. I miss the PETE! memories, pup pics and the beautiful nature surrounding you. On Twitter my profile was my black pom pup Jasper Jenkins. Threads is really nice. It would be great to see you there.
