Crazy morning, but here is your gratuitous dog photo

Ten eighth-grade boys for a birthday party today. In two cars. One rental. Trip to airport. Escape Room, Sloppy Joes, taco dip, bags of candy, bags of chips, the token veggie tray, and custom cupcakes. I have no time for thoughts.

I did, however, receive a plush purple hooded blanket last night, with the words “World Greatest Grandma” emblazoned across the back like a prize fighter.

And I have penciled in my mini nervous breakdown for tomorrow. I may be wearing my new blanket.

And now for your gratuitous dog photo.

Eli’s in bed with Dad, but Auggie remains on duty.

  1. What a lovely, cozy Christmasy picture of Auggie. I think he likes being close to Mum. And, kudos to you for having a birthday party for ten 8th grade boys! Wear that new blanket with pride, Grandma. You deserve it.❤️

  6. Sloppy Joes! Fiona should make them from her childhood recipe in our anticipated next-installment. Perhaps she should even read the recipe aloud for emphasis.

  7. Eighth grade boys. I remember when. They are truly alien creatures. Some of the ones I have known are now at the top of their fields. 😳 Auggie ❤️

  8. Oh my goodness! A friend kept her grandchildren over the weekend. She said she was so exhausted, she stayed in bed for two days after they left. Keep this up, and he’ll want to stay through high school graduation!

  9. I love the “token” veggie tray- I always tried too!Eventually, I switched to just carrots and dip. I hope it’s a wonderful party and you enjoy putting your feet up and snuggling into your beautiful, well deserved robe ( bourbon in hand, of course) later tonight.

  10. Chips and Salsa counts as a veggie (tomato, obviously)! As always, thanks for the gratuitous photo. What a cozy corner! And tonight, robe and hot cocoa maybe with the bourbon?

  11. OMG. Please let us know how the b-day gathering went. Even ‘back-in-the-day’ I loathed kids birthday parties. Long before COVID my background in infectious disease uniquely allowed me to see those ball pits as a pit full of unhealthy microorganisms. Escape room sounds like fun though! And, as always, the picture is everything! MJ
