One more gratuitous dog photo for my erstwhile Twitter friends

Auggie has spent the past three nights sleeping cuddled up next to me, which is not his usual thing. I believe he’s seeking reassurance after so many weeks of having been abandoned (in his view) at the hospital. He’s dozing so contentedly this morning.

  1. Sweet Auggie Doggie! ..I think a kiss on that big nose would wake him up. 😊🎾😴🐾

(I am envious of the peaceful sleep. I slept great.. until a dump truck decided to take out a nearby bus stop at around 4:30am this morning. No injuries, it was empty. Such is city life.)

  2. J.F., please keep wonderful pictures these coming! Your newsletter and blog posts are much appreciated.

I have been bereft over the loss of your daily doses of Eli and Auggie since departing the platform formerly known as Twitter. The loss of connection made through daily mood captures has been hard. The informal intimacy established through SM has been surprising to me and more meaningful than I thought. This loss brought into clear relief the importance of daily ritual in even the seemingly mundane yet precious, fleeting moments of life.

I haven’t found a good alternative yet. If you have any recommendations, please share them. In the meantime, Cara and Annie send you, Charlie, and the pups lots of love!

  3. I’m so glad Augie is on the mend. Thank you for sharing your dogs with your Twitter friends. I always have a peaceful feeling when I see photos of your dogs and their jaunts in the woods.

  5. Thank you for this Auggie photo. We miss your beautiful photos and messages on Twitter(X). The only reason I stay on X (whatever that means) is to see posts from Stan Collins and other kind animal families.

  6. That’s a sight I have missed from Twitter! I agree with your consensus about perceived abandonment. It definitely causes a change in them. When we first moved to Spain, we were given some incorrect information by the US embassy in Houston. So after moving over and settling into our home, we discovered that we would have to return to the US for a visa. That process took a little over three months. We were blessed with good friends on both sides of the Atlantic. Here in Spain we had a friend taking care of our two dachshunds and in the US we were able to crash in Illinois with some friends we have known for over 45 years while we waited for the Spanish embassy in Chicago to see us. Neither of our friends realized they had committed to such a long term task. But anyway, when we finally we able to return to Spain, I was shocked to see how much weight Hans had lost and neither he nor. am Gretel would get further than 3 feet from our side for months. We felt so badly about causing them stress but sometimes issues arise that are beyond our control.

  10. Playing catch up. I somehow missed this along the way. I’m so relieved and happy Auggie is better and home with his beloved family. It’s pains the soul to think about how Auggie must have felt being away from all of you. Hard for the lad to understand. I so glad he’s back where he belongs and can once again nap on his favorite couch.🥰
