Saturday Idyll

A beautiful snowy morning. Went out in the dark to get a log, because it seemed wrong not to have a lovely fire. Dogs were quite excited that we were to play so early, and were sadly disappointed when I returned indoors so quickly.

Instead of writing, I spent a happy morning planning Valentine gifts.

We will have a cozy day at home, with a little novel plotting mixed in.

Happy Weekend!

  1. That is a beautiful photo. And yesterday’s secret cheese photo of Auggie is genius to catch him being sly. Thank you.

  2. What a serene and beautiful scene! I can almost hear the crackling of that fire in the fireplace. Feliz Día de Reyes from here in Spain. Our neighbor just brought us a wonderful apple pastry he baked in his outdoor wood fired bread oven and a jar of honey. We are in heaven. Enjoy your peace and quie in that picture perfect setting.

  3. Here in New England we await the coming storm and possible loss of power. The dog was up at 5:30 eager to chase the deer. Hopefully we will have your lovely view in 24 hours. Enjoy your day.

    • New England is such a lovely part of the country which I enjoy visiting. (I’m in SW Ohio, where our forecasted 1.5-2″ turned into a big nothing.) Please stay safe, my neighbors to the Northeast.

  4. We in the southeast marvel at snowy mornings. Back in the old days, it meant school holidays, playing outside until we our toes grew numb. Hot chocolate with marshmallows. Today the rare good snowfall means a quiet peaceful day. Enjoying the beautiful view.

  5. Your photo is one of the (few, lol) things I enjoy about winter. The warmth and crackle of a fire, hot tea, and the quiet solitude make for a soothing day. Enjoy it, and happy novel planning! ❄️

  7. After a November when a dandelion in my yard actually bloomed and a December when more ice fell from the sky than formed on the lake, we awoke this morning to find an inch of snow on the ground. The dogs ran through the woods and the donkeys played in the pasture while I stayed indoors and paged through a garden seed catalog. Ah, winter!
